Why Use Genuine OEM Car Parts?
The overarching reason to stick with OEM parts is simply that if you want your vehicle to be like new, you use the parts it came with when it was new. Aftermarket parts can be very similar sometimes, but generally speaking simply aren’t original. It is also much more common for aftermarket parts to have defects and fitment problems, or simply for a company supplying said part to send you the wrong things or mis-label it. - Ensures Quality – A significant area aftermarket parts generally lag on, at least overall, is consistent quality. Depending on the company and part in question, the actual viability and longevity of the aftermarket part you order can vary cartoonishly. Meanwhile, OEM parts have been much more thoroughly tested by the manufacturer, including in terms of parts that have a safety function.
- Reliable Ordering – Some aftermarket parts companies are run well, but many are not. There are plenty of horror stories of parts being mislabeled or the wrong one being sent out. With OEM parts, you know you’re going to get the right thing.
