2020 Ford Fusion Towing Capacity
How much can a Ford Fusion tow? While midsize sedans aren’t commonly known for their towing capabilities the way models like the Ford Explorer and Ford F-150 are, the new Fusion promises plenty of hauling power for Elk River drivers. In fact, the 2020 Ford Fusion towing capacity ranges from 1,000 to 2,000 pounds, depending on your powertrain and setup. Learn more about what the Fusion can tow with the team at Cornerstone Ford, and then visit the dealership for a test drive of your favorite Fusion model!
2020 Ford Fusion Towing Capacity
As previously mentioned, the amount that you can tow around Rogers behind the wheel of a Ford Fusion varies based on which engine you choose. Check out the Fusion performance specs below.
- 2.5L i-VCT Engine: Delivering 175 hp and 175 lb-ft of torque via a 6-speed SelectShift® automatic transmission, this setup helps the Fusion tow up to 1,000 pounds.
- 1.5L Ti-VCT I-4 EcoBoost® with Auto Start-Stop: With a rating of 181 hp and 185 lb-ft of torque, Anoka drivers can expect a Ford Fusion towing capacity of 1,000 pounds.
- 2.0L Ti-VCT I-4 EcoBoost®: This engine churns out 245 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque via the 6-speed SelectShift® automatic transmission with paddle shifters. This setup allows for a tow rating of 2,000 pounds.
Keep in mind that front-wheel drive is standard, but all-wheel drive is also available on upper trims.
Ford Fusion Towing Safety
It is important to note that the 2020 Ford Fusion does not come equipped with factory-installed equipment for towing. Additionally, if you decide to drive a Fusion Hybrid or Fusion Plug-In Hybrid around Elk River, towing is not advised. Otherwise, keep the following tips in mind if you decide to tow with your Ford Fusion.
- Allow more distance for braking when a trailer is attached.
- Exercise caution when accelerating. A trailer can drastically reduce acceleration of a vehicle.
- Swing wide when making turns so as to avoid curbs and other objects.
- Make sure tires are properly inflated for optimal performance. Check your tires often throughout the trip.
